Guillermo Albelo - Malta 2007

Estimado Guillermo:
Hace ya unos cuantos años que tengo el gusto de tenerte como amigo. Mucho tiempo compartiendo conversaciones y hasta algún que otro proyecto. Lo cierto es que en todo este tiempo he sentido gran respeto por tu profesionalidad y por tu inmensa creatividad.
A lo largo de mi ya dilatada trayectoria he conocido dentro de nuestra profesión gente muy grande, músicos excelentes y enormes instrumentistas cuya destreza y virtuosismo siempre me fascinó pero, reconozco que siempre sentí especial respeto por aquellos que, al margen de su calidad interpretativa, mostraban imaginación representada en términos de creatividad musical, es decir, los compositores.
En la composición está el fundamento y la gran excelencia de la música; no existirá la obra, si alguien no se la imagina. Lamentablemente hoy, por contra de lo que sucedió en el tiempo de los clásicos, el autor sólo es un nombre que se añade a continuación de un título, y así, en la historia contemporanea, se hizo grande a los intérpretes y se ignoró a los autores, salvo en los casos de los muy notables.
Tú, creo que al igual que yo, estás más del lado de los creadores que de los intérpretes, sin que por ello dejemos de serlo; pero creo que el gran reconocimiento que todos los que te conocemos de cerca te hacemos, es el del inmenso valor de ese gran caudal de cratividad que vienes derrochando ya por muchos años. Sinceramente, por justicia, confío en que algún día te sea públicamente reconocido.

Name" and given it a modern and relevant sound using their own original

A Horse With No Name
"A Horse With No Name" was written by Dewey Bunnell when he was only 18 years old and it propelled
America to a stellar career with a number one song and a successful first album.
The cover of this America hit by Etcetera is very uptempo and includes the signature harmonies that made the original so catchy.
You Can Do Magic
After Dan Peek left America in 1977 they failed to have any top 10 singles until they recorded the Russ Ballard composition "You Can Do Magic". Etcetera has done an excellent job covering this song with tight harmonies and excellent guitar work. Listening to this song it's easy to get carried away in dream land and one can imagine that they really can do magic.

…Days, me gustó con diferencia (yo hubiese repetido un par de veces más la coda), junto con The Story, crean ese ambiente relajado y elegante (eres el rey de los puentes modulantes). Enérgica la versión de A Horse With No Name; muy guapo el piano funk de Walking Alone y el puente en Nothing So Far Away As Yesterday.

Tengo en el equipo de audio de mi coche el disco “Mi mundo es al revés...” desde la última visita a tu estudio. He de decirte que me ha sorprendido. Algunas de las canciones ya me sonaban de vuestros ensayos o actuaciones, por lo que han sido las que más rápidamente se me han quedado. En todo caso, estas son mis favoritas (por orden):
“EN CALIFORNIA”“MI MUNDO ES AL REVES” (A ver si aciertas con lo del Gran Hermano)

“YOU CAN DO MAGIC” (El efecto del “Vocoder” está bastante logrado)“YOU CAN DREAM”
“DALE LA VUELTALa versión de “CALIFORNIA DREAMIN´” me ha llamado bastante la atención. Entra muy fácil por ser muy conocida, por lo que no la he apuntado en la lista. En el caso de “A HORSE WITH NO NAME”, estoy esperando a oir la versión original de America para compararlas. El otro día la pille en la M-80, pero estaba acabando. Se echa de menos la versión de “AL SON DEL VIENTO”, que si mal no recuerdo la oí en una actuación de ETCETERA en la sala “NIBANNA” de La Laguna. Quizá para el tercer album ¿no?. Es que me gustó mucho.Por último decirte que me agrado que tuvierais un rinconcito para LowenStein en las dedicatorias, así como para Sound Balera y Kaledonia.
